GA38:38 – si-mesmo e eu

O si mesmo não é uma determinação que distingue o eu. Este é o erro fundamental do pensamento moderno. O si mesmo não é determinado a partir do eu, mas o caracter do si mesmo pertence do mesmo modo ao tu, ao nós e ao vós. O si mesmo é enigmático de um novo modo. O caracter do si mesmo não é particular pertença do tu, do eu, do nós, mas de todos, de uma maneira originária. Teremos de perguntar se e em que medida nós, com esta abordagem, podemos penetrar na essência do si mesmo e, assim, na essência do homem. (p. 85)

The self is no distinguishing determination of the I. This is the fundamental error of modern thinking. The self is not   determined from the I, but the self-character belongs just as well to the You, to the We, and to the [plural] You. The self is enigmatic in a new manner. The sclf-character does not belong separately to the You, to the I, to the We, but to all that in [a] similar original manner. It will have to be asked whether and in how far we may be able to push forward into the essence of the self and, with this, into the essence of the human being with this launching. (p. 35)

Das Selbst   ist keine auszeichnende Bestimmung   des Ich  . Dies ist der Grundirrtum des neuzeitlichen Denkens. Das Selbst wird nicht   vom Ich her bestimmt, sondern der Selbstcharakter ist auch ebensogut dem Du eigen, dem Wir und dem Ihr. Das Selbst ist in neuer Weise   rätselhaft  . Der Selbstcharakter ist nicht gesondert dem Du, dem Ich, dem Wir zugehörig, sondern all dem in gleich   ursprünglicher Weise. Zu fragen   wird sein  , ob und inwieweit wir bei   diesem Ansatz   in das Wesen   des Selbst und damit in das Wesen des Menschen vorzudringen vermögen  . (p. 38)
