O Modus da certeza é a convicção. Nela o Dasein pode ser determinado unicamente pelo testemunho da coisa descoberta (verdadeira) ela mesma. O ter-por-verdadeiro (assentir) como manter-se-na-verdade somente é suficiente quando se funda no ente descoberto ele mesmo e se, como ser-para o ente assim descoberto, tornou-se transparente quanto a sua (705) adequação a esse ente. Algo semelhante falta numa invenção arbitrária ou no mero “opinar” sobre um ente.

A suficiência do ter-por-verdadeiro se mede pela pretensão-de-verdade a que ele pertence. Esta recebe sua legitimidade a partir do modo-de-ser do ente por abrir e da direção do abrir. Com a diversidade do ente e conforme a tendência condutora e a amplitude do abrir, o gênero de verdade e com ele sua certeza se modificam. (p. 705, 707)

Un modo de la certeza es la convicción (Überzeugung). En ella el Dasein se deja determinar, en su estar vuelto comprensoramente hacia la cosa, únicamente por el testimonio (Zeugnis) de la cosa descubierta misma (de la cosa verdadera). El tener-por-verdadero, en cuanto mantenerse-en-la-verdad, sólo es suficiente si se funda en el ente descubierto mismo y si, en su mismo estar vuelto hacia el ente así descubierto, se ha hecho transparente respecto de su adecuación a éste. Es lo que falta en la ficción arbitraria o en la mera opinión acerca de un ente.

La suficiencia del tener-por-verdadero se mide por la pretensión de verdad a la cual él pertenece. Esta pretensión de verdad toma su justificación del modo de ser del ente que se trata de abrir y de la dirección del abrir mismo. Con la diversidad de los entes y según la tendencia que guía el abrir y el alcance de éste, cambia el tipo de verdad y con ello también la certeza. (p. 276)

Un mode de la certitude, c’est la conviction. En elle le Dasein laisse au seul témoignage de la chose même qui est dévoilée (vraie) le soin de lui déterminer son être ententif par rapport à celle-ci. Le tenir-pour-vrai en tant que se-tenir-dans-la-vérité suffit du moment qu’il se fonde sur l’étant même qui est dévoilé et que, comme être en rapport avec l’étant dévoilé, il est devenu transparent à lui-même pour ce qui est de son adéquation à celui-ci. Toutes choses qui manquent à l’invention arbitrairement échafaudée ou au simple « avis » sur un étant.

La suffisance du tenir-pour-vrai se mesure à la pétition de vérité dont il relève. Celle-ci tire sa justification du genre d’être de l’étant à découvrir et de la direction du découvrir. Etant donné la diversité de l’étant et selon la tendance et la portée commandant le découvrir, le genre de la vérité change et avec lui la certitude. (p. 310)

One mode of certainty is conviction. In conviction, Dasein lets the testimony of the thing itself which has been uncovered (the true thing itself) be the sole determinant for its Being towards that thing understandingly. Holding something for true is adequate as a way of maintaining oneself in the truth, if it is grounded in the uncovered entity itself, and if, as Being towards the entity so uncovered, it has become transparent to itself as regards its appropriateness to that entity. In any arbitrary fiction or in merely having some ‘view’ [“Ansicht”] about an entity, this sort of thing is lacking.

The adequacy of holding-for-true is measured according to the truth-claim to which it belongs. Such a claim gets its justification from the kind of Being of the entity to be disclosed, and from the direction of the disclosure. The kind of truth, and along with it, the certainty, varies with the way entities differ, and accords with the guiding tendency and extent of the disclosure. (p. 300)

Ein Modus der Gewißheit ist die Überzeugung. In ihr läßt sich das Dasein einzig durch das Zeugnis der entdeckten (wahren) Sache Selbst Sein verstehendes Sein zu dieser bestimmen. Das Für-wahr-halten-halten) ist als Sich-in-der-Wahrheit-halten zulänglich, wenn es im entdeckten Seienden selbst gründet und als Sein zu so entdecktem Seienden hinsichtlich seiner Angemessenheit an dieses sich Durchsichtig geworden ist. Dergleichen fehlt in der willkürlichen Erdichtung, bzw. in der bloßen »Ansicht« über ein Seiendes.

Die Zulänglichkeit des Fürwahrhaltens bemißt sich nach dem Wahrheitsanspruch, dem es zugehört. Dieser empfängt sein recht aus der Seinsart des zu erschließenden Seienden und der Richtung des Erschließens. mit der Verschiedenheit des Seienden und gemäß der leitenden Tendenz und Tragweite des Erschließens wandelt sich die Art der Wahrheit und damit die Gewißheit.
