===== ANTES DO "QUE FAZER?", O "COMO PENSAR?" (70-71) =====

La gran esencia del hombre en nosotros la pensamos en que ella pertenece a la esencia del Ser, es necesitada por éste para guardar (wahren : adverar) la esencia del Ser en su verdad.

Por eso, lo que en primer lugar se requiere en esto es que nosotros meditemos ante todo la esencia del Ser como lo digno-de-ser-pensado, que nosotros, pensando eso, fundamentalmente, experimentemos hasta qué punto estamos reclamados a rastrear sobre todo una senda hacia tal experimentar, y a trazarla en lo hasta ahora no-caminado.

Nosotros podremos todo eso sólo si previamente a la pregunta "¿qué debemos hacer?" — que, según las apariencias, es siempre la más inmediata y la única perentoria — , meditamos esto: ¿como tendríamos que pensar? Pues el pensar es el auténtico obrar (Handeln), si obrar quiere decir ayudar  a la esencia del Ser. Esto dice: preparar (construir) a la esencia del Ser en medio de lo ente aquel paraje, en el que él y su esencia se trae a lenguaje. El lenguaje da camino y sendero a todo querer considerar. Sin el lenguaje, a todo hacer le (186) falta aquella dimensión (Dimension), en la que podría orientarse y actuar. Lenguaje, ahí no es jamás primeramente expresión del pensar, sentir y querer. Lenguaje es la dimensión inicial, dentro de la cual la esencia-humana puede ante todo corresponder al Ser y a su interpelación y, en el corresponder, pertenecer al Ser. Este corresponder inicial, propiamente realizado, es el pensar. Pensando, nosotros aprendemos ante todo el habitar en el ámbito en el que acontece-apropia el restablecimiento del destino del Ser, el restablecimiento de lo dis-puesto. (2003, p. 186-187)

It is toward the great essence of Man that we are thinking, inasmuch as man's essence belongs to the essence of Being and is needed by Being to keep safe the coming to presence of Being into its truth.

Therefore, what is necessary above all is this: that beforehand we ponder the essence of Being as that which is worthy of thinking; that beforehand, in thinking this, we experience to what extent we are called upon first to trace a path for such experiencing and to prepare that path as a way into that which till now has been impassable.

All this we can do only it before considering the question that is seemingly always the most immediate one and the only urgent one, What shall we do? we ponder this: How must we think? For thinking is genuine activity, genuine taking a Hand, if to take a hand means to lend a hand to the essence, the coming to presence, of Being. This means: to prepare (build) for the coming to presence of Being that abode in the midst of whatever is (inmitten des Seienden) into which Being brings itself and its essence to utterance in language. Language first gives to every purposeful deliberation its ways and its byways. Without language, there would be lacking to every doing every Dimension in which it could bestir itself and be effective. In view of this, language is never primarily the expression of thinking, feeling, and willing. Language is the primal dimension within which man's essence is first able to correspond at all to Being and its claim, and, in corresponding, to belong to Being. This primal corresponding, expressly carried out, is thinking. Through thinking, we first learn to dwell in the realm in which there comes to pass the restorative surmounting of the destining of Being, the surmounting of Enframing. (1977, p. 40-41)

Le « grand être » de l'homme, nous le pensons jusque dans son appartenance à l'essence de l'être, en ce que l'être le requiert pour qu'il prenne en garde l'essence de l'être dans sa vérité.

C'est pourquoi il est de première nécessité de méditer avant tout l'essence de l'être comme ce qui est digne d'être pensé, et de faire avant tout, lors d'une telle méditation, l'épreuve de la mesure dans laquelle nous sommes appelés à ouvrir d'abord seulement un sentier pour une telle épreuve, et à le mener dans ce qui est jusqu'à maintenant non frayé.

Mais de tout cela nous ne sommes capables que si, avant la question apparemment toujours première et apparaissant comme la seule pressante: que devons nous faire, nous méditons celle ci: comment nous faut il penser? Car le penser est l'agir en ce qu'il a de plus propre, si agir (Handeln) signifie prêter la main (Hand) à l'essence de l'être, c'est à dire: préparer (bâtir) pour l'essence de l'être au milieu de l'étant le domaine où l'être se porte et porte son essence à la langue. La langue seule est ce qui nous donne voie et passage à toute volonté de penser. Sans la langue, il manque à chaque entreprise (Tun) toute dimension dans laquelle elle pourrait s' orienter et ceuvrer. La langue en cela n'est jamais d'abord expression de la pensée, du sentir et du vouloir. La langue (Sprache) est la dimension initiale à l'intérieur de laquelle l'être homme peut alors seulement correspondre (entsprechen) à l'être et à son exigence et dans le correspondre, appartenir à l'être. Cette correspondance initiale, accomplie en propre, est la pensée. Pensant, nous apprenons alors seulement ce qu'est habiter dans le domaine où nous advient la libération du destin de l'être, la libération du Gestell. (in Questions III-IV, 1976, p. 312-313)

Darum ist das zuerst Nötige dies, daß Wir zuvor das Wesen des Seins als das Denk-würdige bedenken, daß wir zuvor, solches (40) denkend, erfahren, inwiefern wir geheißen sind, solchem Erfahren erst einen Pfad zu spuren und ihn in das bislang Unwegsame zu bahnen.

Dies alles Vermögen wir nur, wenn wir vor der anscheinend immer nächsten und allein als dringlich erscheinenden Frage: Was sollen wir Tun, dies bedenken: Wie müssen wir denken? Denn das Denken ist das eigentliche Handeln, wenn Handeln heißt, dem Wesen des Seins an die Hand gehen. Dies sagt: dem Wesen des Seins inmitten des Seienden jene Stätte bereiten (bauen), in die es sich und Sein Wesen zur Sprache bringt. Die Sprache gibt Allem Überlegenwollen erst Weg und Steg. Ohne die Sprache fehlt jedem Tun jede Dimension, in der es sich umtun und wirken könnte. Sprache ist dabei niemals erst Ausdruck des Denkens, Fühlens und Wollens. Sprache ist die anfängliche Dimension, innerhalb deren das Menschenwesen überhaupt erst vermag, dem Sein und dessen Anspruch zu entsprechen und im Entsprechen dem Sein zu gehören. Dieses anfängliche Entsprechen, eigens vollzogen, ist das Denken. Denkend Lernen wir erst das wohnen in dem Bereich, in dem sich die Verwindung des Seinsgeschickes, die Verwindung des Gestells, ereignet. (Die Kehre, GA79, p. 70-71)
