(...) O homem pertence enquanto um ente ao ente e está submetido, assim, à mais universal determinação de que ele é e de que ele é de tal e tal modo. A questão é que isso não distingue o homem enquanto homem, mas apenas o equipara enquanto ente a todo ente. O homem, porém, pode pertencer ao seer (não apenas ao ente), na medida em que ele cria a partir desse pertencimento e precisamente a partir dele a sua essência mais originária: o homem compreende o seer (cf. Ser e tempo); ele é o guarda-posto do projeto do seer, a guarda da verdade do seer constitui isso a partir do seer e “apenas” a partir dessa essência concebida do homem. O homem pertence ao seer como aquele que é apropriado pelo próprio seer em meio ao acontecimento para a fundação de sua verdade. Assim apropriado, ele é entregue à responsabilidade do seer; ao mesmo tempo, tal responsabilidade remete a conservação e a fundação da essência do homem para aquilo que o homem precisa primeiro transformar para si em propriedade, aquilo com relação ao que ele precisa ser mais próprio e mais impróprio: para o ser-aí, o que significa a própria fundação da verdade, o a-bismo exposto e sustentado pelo seer (acontecimento apropriador). (...) En tant qu’étant, l’homme fait partie de l’étant; il relève ainsi de la détermination générale, selon laquelle il est, il est de telle et telle manière. Toutefois cela ne caractérise pas l’homme comme tel, mais ne fait que le poser, comme étant, à égalité avec tous les autres étants. Or l’homme peut aussi faire partie de l’estre (pas seulement parmi l’étant), dans la mesure où, par cette appartenance, et plus précisément en elle, il puise la pleine essence qui le plus originalement est la sienne : l’homme a l’entente de l’estre (cf. Être et Temps) ; il est le lieu-tenant de la projection de l’estre ; veiller et garder la vérité de l’estre, c’est ce qui décide et constitue la pleine essence de l’homme, conçue à partir de l’estre et « rien que » par là. L’homme fait partie de l’estre en tant qu’il est bel et bien avenu de par l’estre même et en vue de fondamenter sa vérité. Devenu ainsi celui qu’il doit être, l’homme est remis et confié à l’estre; un tel transfert renvoie la conservation et fondamentation de cet être humain à cela dont l’homme lui-même doit d’abord commencer par faire sa proprie-été, en relation à quoi il a à être plus proprement et plus improprement : être le là — qui est la fondamentation même de la vérité, hors-fond jeté hors de l’estre (avenance) et porté par lui. (...) Man as a being belongs to beings and thus is subordinate to the most general determination that he is and is such and such. However, that does Not distinguish man as man but rather merely equates him as a being with all beings. But man can belong to be-ing (not only among beings), insofar as he draws out of this belongingness – and precisely out of it  – what is most originarily his ownmost: Man understands be-ing (cf. Being and Time); he is the governor of projecting-open be-ing. The guardianship of the truth of be-ing makes up what is ownmost to man, grasped out of be-ing and "only" out of this. Man belongs to be-ing as the one who is enowned by be-ing itself for the grounding of the truth of be-ing. Owned in this way, man is surrendered to be-ing, and such surrender directs the preserving and grounding of this human being in that which man himself must first make for himself as his ownhood, with reference to which he must be owned or unowned into Da-sein, which is the grounding of truth itself, the ab-ground that is thrown forth and sustained by be-ing (enowning). Allein, das zeichnet den Menschen Nicht als Menschen aus, sondern setzt ihn nur als Seiendes mit Allem Seienden gleich. Der Mensch aber kann zum Seyn (nicht nur unter das Seiende) gehören, sofern er aus dieser Zugehörigkeit und gerade aus ihr Sein ursprünglichstes Wesen schöpft: Der Mensch versteht das Seyn (vgl. »Sein und Zeit«); er ist der Statthalter des Entwurfs des Seyns, die Wächterschaft der Wahrheit des Seyns Macht das aus dem Seyn und »nur« aus diesem begriffene Wesen des Menschen aus. Der Mensch gehört zum Seyn als der vom Seyn Selbst zu dessen Wahrheitsgründung Ereignete. So geeignet ist er dem Seyn überantwortet, und solche Überantwortung verweist die Bewahrung und Gründung dieses Menschenwesens in Jenes, Was der Mensch selbst erst sich zum Eigentum machen muß, mit Bezug Worauf er eigentlicher und uneigentlicher sein muß: in das Da-sein, was die Wahrheitsgründung selbst ist, der vom Seyn (Ereignis) ausgeworfene und getragene Ab-grund.
