A apropriação originária do primeiro início (isto é, de sua história) significa o tomar pé no outro início. Esse tomar pé realiza-se na transição da questão diretriz (o que é o ente?, questão acerca da entidade, do ser) para a questão fundamental: o que é a verdade do seer? (ser e seer são o mesmo e, contudo, fundamentalmente diversos).

Essa transição é historicamente concebida como a superação e, em verdade, como a primeira e pela primeira vez possível superação de toda “metafísica”. A “metafísica” se torna agora pela primeira vez cognoscível em sua essência, e, no pensar transitório, todo o discurso acerca da “metafísica” se torna ambíguo. A questão “o que é metafísica?”, formulada no âmbito da transição para o outro início (cf. a conferência na conexão com Ser e tempo e com “Da essência do fundamento”), questiona a essência da “metafísica” já no sentido de uma primeira conquista da posição do campo prévio para a transição em direção ao cerne do outro início. Em outras palavras, ela questiona já a partir desse outro início. O que ela torna visível como determinação da “metafísica” já não é mais a metafísica, mas a sua superação. O que essa questão procura alcançar não é o esclarecimento, isto é, a manutenção fixa da representação até aqui para tanto necessária da “metafísica”, mas o impulso para a transição e, com isso, para o saber de que todo tipo de metafísica chegou ao fim e precisa ter chegado ao fim, se a filosofia deve conquistar o seu outro início. Esto se lleva a cabo en el tránsito de la pregunta rectora (¿Qué es el ente? Pregunta por la entidad, ser) a la pregunta fundamental: ¿Qué es la verdad del Ser? (ser y Ser son lo mismo y, sin embargo, radicalmente diferentes.)

Concebido históricamente, este tránsito es la superación, y, por cierto, la primera superación posible de toda "metafísica". Por primera vez, la metafísica se torna recién ahora reconocible en su esencia, y en el pensar transitante se torna ambiguo todo hablar acerca de la "metafísica". La pregunta: ¿Qué es metafísica?, planteada en el dominio del tránsito al otro inicio (cfr.: la conferencia en conexión con Ser y Tiempo y con el texto De la esencia del fundamento), interroga (erfragt) ya la esencia de la "metafísica" en el sentido de una primera conquista de una posición de avanzada al transitar hacia el otro inicio. En otras palabras, pregunta ya a partir de éste. Lo hecho visible por ella como determinación de la "metafísica", ya no es más metafísica, sino su superación. Lo que esta pregunta quiere alcanzar no es la aclaración, y esto significa, la conservación de la representación pasada y, por lo demás, necesariamente enredada de la "metafísica", sino que es el impulso para el tránsito y por consiguiente hacia el saber de que cada tipo de metafísica ha llegado y debe de haber llegado a fin, si es que la filosofía ha de venir a ganar su otro inicio.

The first beginning's coming originarily into its own (and that means into its history) means gaining a foothold in the other beginning. This is accomplished in crossing from the guiding-question (what is a being? the question of beingness, being) to the grounding-question: What is the truth of be-ing? (Being and be-ing is the same and yet fundamentally different.)

Historically grasped, this crossing is the overcoming — and indeed the first and first possible overcoming — "of all "metaphysics." "Metaphysics" now first becomes recognizable in what is its ownmost; and, in thinking in the crossing, all talk of "metaphysics" becomes ambiguous. Put into the domain of the crossing to the other beginning, the question: What is metaphysics? (cf. the lecture in connection with Being and Time and Vom Wesen des Grundes) already inquires into what is ownmost to "metaphysics" in the sense of gaining an initial footing in crossing to the other beginning. In other words. the question already asks from within this (other beginning). What it makes manifest as determination of "metaphysics" is already no longer metaphysics but rather its overcoming. What this question wants to achieve is Not the clarification and thus rigidifying of the hitherto necessarily confused ideas of "metaphysics" but rather the thrust into the crossing and thereby the knowing awareness that any kind of metaphysics has and must come to an end. if philosophy is to attain its other beginning. Die ursprüngliche Zueignung des ersten Anfangs (und d. h. seiner Geschichte) bedeutet das Fussfassen im anderen Anfang. Dieses volIzieht sich im Übergang von der Leitfrage (was ist das Seiende?, Frage nach der Seiendheit, Sein) zur Grundfrage: Was ist die Wahrheit des Seyns? Die »Metaphysik« wird Jetzt erst in ihrem Wesen erkennbar, und im überganglichen denken kommt aIle Rede von »Metaphysik« in die Zweideutigkeit. Die Frage: Was ist Metaphysik?, im Bereich des Übergangs zum Anderen Anfang gestellt (vgl. den Vortrag im Zusammenhang mit »Sein und Zeit« und »Vom Wesen des Grundes«), erfragt das Wesen der »Metaphysik« bereits im Sinne einer ersten Gewinnung der Vorfeldstellung zum Übergang in den anderen Anfang. Mit anderen Worten, sie fragt schon aus diesem her. Was sie als Bestimmung der »Metaphysik« sichtbar Macht, das ist schon nicht mehr die Metaphysik, sondern ihre Überwindung. Was diese Frage erzielen will, ist Nicht die Aufklärung und d. h. Festerhaltung der bisherigen und dazu notwendig verwirrten Vorstellung von der »Metaphysik«, sondern ist der Stoss in den Übergang und damit in das Wissen, Dass jede Art von Metaphysik zu Ende ist und sein muss, wenn die Philosophie ihren anderen Anfang gewinnen soll.
