O ser para a morte precisa ser concebido como determinação do ser-aí e apenas assim. Aqui se realiza a mensuração mais extrema da temporalidade e, com isso, a referência do espaço da verdade do seer, a indicação do tempo-espaço. Portanto, não para negar o “seer”, mas sim para instituir o fundamento de sua afirmabilidade plena e essencial.

Como é mesquinho e barato, porém, extrair a palavra “ser para a morte”, dispor sobre ela uma “visão de mundo” tosca e, então, colocá-la em Ser e tempo. Aparentemente, esse cálculo irrompe de modo particularmente bom, uma vez que se está falando nesse “livro” de resto do “nada”. Assim, obtemos a conclusão seca: ser para a morte, isto é, ser para o nada e esse ser para o nada como a essência do ser-aí! E isso não deve ser nenhum niilismo.

Mas o que importa não é dissolver o ser do homem na morte e declará-lo a mera nulidade, mas, ao contrário: inserir a morte na ligação com o ser-aí, a fim de dominar o ser-aí em sua amplitude abissal e, assim, mensurar completamente o fundamento da possibilidade da verdade do seer.

Nem todos, porém, precisam levar a termo esse ser para a morte e assumir nessa propriedade o si mesmo do ser-aí. Ao contrário, essa realização só é necessária na (279) esfera da fundamentação da questão acerca do seer, uma tarefa que, com certeza, não permanece restrita à filosofia.

A realização do ser para a morte só é um dever para os pensadores do outro início, mas cada homem essencial entre os futuramente criadores pode saber disso.

O ser para a morte não seria tocado em sua essencialidade, se não houvesse para os eruditos em filosofia a ocasião para escárnios maçantes, assim como para os jornalistas o direito de saber melhor das coisas. [GA65PT:279-280]

De este modo resulta la lisa conclusión: ser para la muerte, es decir, ¡ser para la nada y ello como esencia del ser ahí! Y esto no ha de ser ningún nihilismo.

Pero no se trata de disolver al hombre en la muerte y darlo por mera nulidad, sino viceversa: introducir la muerte en el ser ahí, para llevar a cabo al ser ahí en su abismosa amplitud y así medir plenamente el fundamento de la posibilidad de la verdad del ser (Seyn).

Pero no cada uno necesita realizar este ser (Seyn) para la muerte y asumir en esta autenticidad al sí mismo del ser ahí, sino que esta realización es sólo necesaria en el circuito de la tarea de la funda-mentación de la pregunta por el ser (Seyn), una tarea que en todo caso no queda limitada a la filosofía.

La realización del ser para la muerte es un deber sólo para los pensadores (233) del otro comienzo, pero todo hombre esencial, entre los en el futuro creadores, puede saber de ello.

El ser para la muerte no sería alcanzado en su esencialidad si no se diera a los eruditos en filosofía oportunidad de burlas insípidas y a los periodistas el derecho de saber mejor. [GA65DPC:232-233]

Be-ing-toward-death is to be grasped as determination of Da-sein and only as such. Here the utmost appraisal of temporality is enacted, and thus along with it the occupying of the space of the truth of be-ing, the announcing of time-space. Thus Not in order to negate "be-ing" but in order to install the ground of its full and essential affirmability.

How despicable and cheap it is, however, to yank the word being-toward-death out, then to put on it a crude "worldview," and finally to lay this back into Being and Time. It would seem that this calculation works particularly well, since this "book" also talks of the "nothing." Thus there follows the easy conclusion: being-toward-death, i.e., being-toward-nothing and this as the "essence" of Dasein! And that should not be nihilism?

But what is at stake is not to dissolve humanness into death and to declare it for sheer nothingness but the opposite: to draw death into Dasein, in order to master Dasein in its breadth as abground and thus fully to appraise the ground of the possibility of the truth of be-ing.

But not everyone needs to enact this be-ing-toward-death and to take over the self of Da-Sein in this ownedness. Rather, this enactment is necessary only within the sphere of the task of laying the foundation for the question of be-ing—a task, however, that is not limited to philosophy.

The enactment of being-toward-death is a duty only for the thinkers of the other beginning. However, every essential human being among those creating in the future can know of it.

Being-toward-death would not have been encountered in its essentiality if the opportunity for insipid mockery were not given to scholars in philosophy and if the right to know better were not given to journalists. [GA65EM:200]

Das Seyn zum Tode als Bestimmung des Da-seins zu begreifen und nur so. Hier vollzieht sich die äußerste Ausmessung der Zeitlichkeit und damit das Beziehen des Raumes der Wahrheit des Sejms, die Anzeige des Zeit-Raumes. Also Nicht, um das »Seyn« zu verneinen, sondern um den Grund seiner vollwesentlichen Bej ah-barkeit zu stiften.

Wie armselig und billig aber ist es, das Wort »Sein zum Tode« herauszugreifen, sich daran eine grobe »Weltanschauung« zurecht- und diese dann in »Sein und Zeit« hineinzulegen. Scheinbar geht diese Rechnung besonders gut auf, da ja auch sonst noch in diesem »Buch« vom »Nichts« die Rede ist. So ergibt sich der glatte Schluß: Sein zum Tode, d. h. Sein zum (285) Nichts und dies als Wesen des Daseins! Und das soll kein Nihilismus sein.

Aber es gilt ja nicht, das Menschsein in den Tod aufzulösen und zur bloßen Nichtigkeit zu erklären, sondern umgekehrt: den Tod in das Dasein hereinzuziehen, um das Dasein in seiner abgründigen Weite zu bewältigen und so den Grund der Möglichkeit der Wahrheit des Seyns voll auszumessen.

Aber nicht jeder braucht dieses Seyn zum Tode zu vollziehen und in dieser Eigentlichkeit das Selbst des Da-seins zu übernehmen, sondern dieser Vollzug ist nur notwendig im Umkreis der Aufgabe der Grund-legung der Frage nach dem Seyn, eine Aufgabe, die allerdings nicht auf die Philosophie beschränkt bleibt.

Der Vollzug des Seins zum Tode ist nur den Denkern des Anderen Anfangs eine Pflicht, aber jeder wesentliche Mensch unter den künftig schaffenden kann davon Wissen.

Das Sein zum Tode wäre nicht in seiner Wesentlichkeit getroffen, wenn es nicht den Philosophiegelehrten Gelegenheit zu faden Spötteleien und den Zeitungsschreibern nicht das recht zum Besserwissen gäbe. [GA65:284-285]
