Ouvimos: o ser-aí mantém-se cotidianamente, de início e na maioria das vezes, unicamente junto ao ente, apesar de já precisar ter compreendido em meio a esta estada e para tanto o ser. A questão, porém, é que, de acordo com a imersão, com o perder-se no ente, tanto em si mesmo, no ser-aí, quanto no ente que o ser-aí não é, o ser-aí não sabe nada sobre o fato de já ter compreendido ser. O ser-aí faticamente existente esqueceu esse anterior. Se, por conseguinte, o ser, o anterior, já deve ter sido sempre compreendido, ou seja, se ele já deve ter sido sempre transformado expressamente em objeto, então a objetivação desse anterior, desse esquecido, precisa ter o caráter de um retorno ao que já foi antes e desde o princípio compreendido. Platão, aquele que descobriu o a priori, também viu este caráter da objetivação do ser, ao caracterizá-la (473) como άνάμνησις, como rememoração. Podemos apresentar uma breve demonstração destes contextos a partir de um dos diálogos centrais de Platão, o Fedro.

Pois uma alma, que nunca viu a verdade, isto é, que não compreende a verdade em geral enquanto tal, nunca assumiria a forma do homem, pois o homem precisa, de maneira correspondente ao seu modo de ser, compreender de tal maneira que ele interpele discursivamente o ente com vistas à sua essência, isto é, com vistas ao seu ser, de tal forma que ele, partindo do múltiplo que é característico do percebido, seja arrebatado de volta para um conceito. Esse conhecimento conceitual do ente em seu ser é rememoração daquilo que nossa alma outrora, isto é, previamente vislumbrou, aquilo que ela vislumbrou, enquanto estava seguindo o deus e olhando aí para além daquilo que nós agora, a saber, na existência cotidiana, denominamos o ente. Ascendendo nesse olhar para além do ente até o ente propriamente dito, isto é, até o próprio ser. Por isso, com razão, só o pensar do filósofo é dotado de asas, pois esse pensamento sempre se encontra, de acordo com a possibilidade, junto àquilo que, mostrando-se como o espaço no qual o deus se mantém, é justamente por isso divino. – A interpretação correspondente do aprender e do conhecer em geral e a fundação do aprender na rememoração é algo que Platão nos mostra sobretudo no Fédon: (citação em grego, Ibid., 72e 5s), o aprender não é ele mesmo outra coisa senão rememoração. – O ascender vindo dos baixios do ente por meio do pensamento conceitual da essência até o ser possui o caráter da lembrança daquilo que já tinha sido outrora visto. Sem falar sobre o mito da alma: o ser tem o caráter do anterior, daquilo que o homem, o qual só conhece de início e na maioria das vezes o ente, se esqueceu. A libertação dos habitantes aprisionados na caverna, a sua saída da caverna e a sua virada para a luz não é outra coisa senão o resgatar-se do esquecimento para o interior da lembrança do anterior, no qual se acha contida a possibilitação da compreensão do ser mesmo.

Nous avons vu que le Dasein séjourne quotidiennement, de prime abord et le plus souvent, uniquement auprès de l’étant, même s’il faut aussi, et de surcroît, qu’il ait déjà compris l’être. Cependant, dans la mesure où le Dasein se laisse absorber par l’étant dans lequel il se perd, qu’il s’agisse de lui-même, du Dasein, ou de l’étant qu’il n’est pas, le Dasein n’a pas du tout conscience d’avoir déjà compris l’être. Le Dasein facticiel existant a oublié ce préalable. Si donc l’être, qui est toujours déjà « préalablement » compris, doit devenir proprement objet, l’objectivation de ce prius, c’est-à-dire de ce qui est oublié, doit nécessairement prendre la forme d’un retour à ce qui auparavant et d’emblée a déjà été compris. Platon, qui a découvert l’a priori, a également aperçu ce trait caractéristique de l’objectivation de l’être, et l’a défini comme ἀνάμνησις, réminiscence. Donnons-en un court témoignage tiré d’un des dialogues décisifs pour cette question, le Phèdre:

« Car une âme qui n’a jamais vu la vérité, c’est-à-dire qui ne comprend pas la vérité en général et comme telle, ne pourra jamais prendre figure humaine, car l’homme doit, conformément à son mode d’être, comprendre l’étant en l’abordant dans l’optique de son essence, c’est-à-dire de son être, quand, partant d’une multiplicité de perceptions, il retourne à un concept. Cette connaissance conceptuelle de l’étant dans son être est une réminiscence de ce que notre âme a aperçu jadis; de ce qu’elle a aperçu précédemment lorsqu’elle accompagnait la promenade du dieu et surplombait du regard ce que maintenant – dans notre existence quotidienne – nous nommons étant, et que, portant son regard au-delà de l’étant, elle se tournait en direction du véritablement étant, c’est-à-dire de l’être même. Aussi est-ce à bon droit que seule la pensée du philosophe est qualifiée d’ailée, puisqu’elle demeure toujours, autant que possible, auprès de ce lieu d’où le dieu qui y séjourne tient sa divinité. » – C’est surtout dans le Phédon que Platon expose son interprétation de l’apprentissage et de la connaissance en général, qui correspond à cette thèse, en fondant l’apprentissage sur la réminiscence: (...). – L’apprendre n’est lui-même rien d’autre que réminiscence. Le retour, à travers la pensée conceptuelle de l’essence, depuis les bas-fonds de l’étant jusqu’à l’être, se caractérise comme une réminiscence de ce qui jadis a été aperçu. En d’autres termes, et indépendamment du mythe de l’âme, l’être a un caractère de prius, que l’homme, qui ne connaît de prime abord et le plus souvent que l’étant, a oublié. La libération des prisonniers enchaînés dans la caverne et leur conversion vers la lumière ne consistent en rien d’autre qu’à s’arracher à l’oubli et à se souvenir du prius. C’est de cette démarche que dépend la possibilité de compréhension de l’être même.

We have heard that the Dasein dwells daily and first and for the most part solely with beings, even though it must already have understood being in that very process and in order to accomplish it. However, because the Dasein spends itself on and loses itself in that which is, in beings, both in itself, the Dasein, and in the sort of beings that it itself is Not, the Dasein knows nothing about its having already understood being. Factically the existent Dasein has forgotten this prius. Accordingly, if being, which has already always been understood “earlier,” is to become an express object, then the objectification of this prius, which Was forgotten, must have the character of a coming back to what was already once and already earlier understood. Plato, the discoverer of the a priori, also saw this character of the objectification of being when he characterized it as anamnesis, recollection. We shall furnish only some brief evidence for this from one of the main dialogues for these contexts, the Phaedrus.

For a soul which has never seen the truth, which does not understand the truth in general as such, can never take on the human form; for Man, in conformity with his mode of being, must understand by addressing that which is in regard to its essence, its being, in such a way that starting from the multiplicity of perceived (beings) he draws it back to a single concept. This conceptual cognition of beings in their being is a recollection of what our soul saw previously, that is, precursorily—what it saw when following God and thus taking no notice of what we now, in everyday existence, call that which is, and in this disregard raising up its head above beings toward the true being, toward being itself. Therefore, it is just that the thinking of the philosopher alone is truly fitted with wings, for this thinking, as far as possible, always stays with the things in which God, abiding, is for that very reason divine. Plato points above all to the Phaedo for the corresponding interpretation of learning and knowing in general and the foundation of learning in recollection: (...) learning itself is nothing but recollection. The ascent to being from the depths of beings, by means of conceptual thought of the essence, has the character of the recollection of something already previously seen. Expressed without the myth of the soul, this means that being has the character of the prius which the human being, who is familiar first and foremost merely with beings, has forgotten. The liberation of the fettered cave dwellers from the cave and their turning around to the light is nothing but a drawing oneself back from this oblivion to the recollection of the prius, in which there lies enclosed the enabling of understanding being itself.

Wir hörten: Das Dasein hält sich alltäglich und zunächst und zumeist einzig beim Seienden auf, obzwar es hierbei und hierzu Sein schon verstanden Haben muß. Allein, zufolge des Aufgehens, des Sichverlierens im Seienden, sowohl in sich Selbst, im Dasein, als im Seienden, das das Dasein Nicht ist, weiß das Dasein Nichts davon, daß es Sein schon verstanden hat. Dieses Frühere hat das faktisch existierende Dasein vergessen. Soll demnach das Sein, das »früher« immer schon verstanden ist, eigens zum Gegenstand Werden, dann muß die Vergegenständlichung dieses Früheren, dieses Vergessenen, den Charakter eines Zurückkommens auf das vormals schon und im vorhinein schon Verstandene haben. Plato, der Entdecker des apriori, (464) hat auch diesen Charakter der Vergegenständlichung des Seins gesehen, wenn er ihn als ἀνάμνησις, als Wiedererinnerung charakterisiert. Dafür geben wir nur einen kurzen Beleg aus einem der Hauptdialoge für diese Zusammenhänge, dem Phaedrus.

Denn eine Seele, die niemals die Wahrheit gesehen, d. h. die Wahrheit überhaupt als solche nicht versteht, kann niemals die Gestalt des Menschen Annehmen, denn der Mensch muß seiner Seinsart entsprechend so Verstehen, daß er das Seiende im Hinblick auf sein Wesen, d. h. sein Sein anspricht in der Weise, daß er vom Vielfältigen des wahr genommenen (Seienden) ausgehend es zu einem Begriff zurückreißt. Dieses begriffliche Erkennen des Seienden in seinem Sein ist Wiedererinnerung an jenes, was unsere Seele vormals, d. h. vorgängig erblickte, was sie erblickte, Gott nachwandelnd und dabei hinwegsehend über das, was wir Jetzt, nämlich in der alltäglichen Existenz, das Seiende nennen, und in diesem Hinwegsehen über das Seiende emportauchend zum eigentlichen Seienden, d. h. zum Sein selbst. Daher wird mit recht auch nur das denken des Philosophen mit Flügeln versehen, denn immer ist dieses Denken nach Möglichkeit bei jenem, Wobei Gott sich aufhaltend eben deshalb göttlich ist. – Die entsprechende Interpretation des Lernens und Erkennens überhaupt und die Fundierung des Lernens in der Wiedererinnerung zeigt Plato vor Allem im Phaedo: (...), das Lernen ist selbst nichts anderes als (465) Wiedererinnerung. – Das Auftauchen aus den Niederungen des Seienden durch das begriffliche Denken des Wesens zum Sein hat den Charakter der Erinnerung an vormalig schon Gesehenes. Ohne den mythos von der Seele gesprochen: Das Sein hat den Charakter des Früheren, dessen der Mensch, der Zunächst und zumeist nur das Seiende kennt, vergessen hat. Die Befreiung der gefesselten Höhlenbewohner aus der Höhle und die Umwendung zum Licht ist nichts anderes als das Sichzurückliolen aus der Vergessenheit in die Erinnerung an das Frühere, darin die Ermöglichung des Verständnisses des Seins selbst beschlossen liegt.
