Tenemos, pues, una peculiar inherencia mutua entre el modo del ser-in-tendido, la intentio, y el intentum, donde hay que entender intentum, lo intendido en el sentido señalado: no lo percibido en cuanto ente, sino lo ente en el cómo de su ser-percibido; el intentum, en el cómo de su ser-intendido. Sólo con el cómo del ser-intendido inherente a toda intentio se logra poner a la vista, aunque sólo sea de modo provisional, la constitución fundamental de la intencionalidad.

Intentio se suele entender en la fenomenología también en cuanto pensar . Hay relación entre el pensamiento y lo pensado, entre noesis y noema. Νοεῖν significa percibir , aprehender de modo directo, el percibir y lo percibido en el modo de su ser-percibido. Señalo estos términos porque en ellos se contiene no sólo una terminología, sino también una determinada interpretación del dirigir-se-a. Todo dirigir-se-a, temor, esperanza, amor, tiene el carácter del dirigir-se-a que Husserl denomina noesis. Por cuanto νοείν proviene de la esfera del conocimiento teórico, se da aquí una interpretación de la esfera práctica que enraiza en la teórica. Con todo, no resulta peligrosa dicha terminología para nuestros fines, es decir, para dejar claro cómo la intencionalidad sólo se define plenamente cuando se la llega a ver en cuanto inherencia mutua de intentio e intentum. A modo de resumen se podría decir que como la intencionalidad no es para (69) nada una correspondencia posteriormente añadida entre vivencias y objetos que de primeras fueran no intencionales, sino más bien una estructura, por ello es imprescindible que el a-qué intencional propio de cada caso, el intentum, sea inherente a la constitución básica de dicha estructura. Esta exposición provisional de la constitución básica de la intencionalidad en cuanto inherencia mutua de intentio e intentum no es la última palabra, sino únicamente una primera indicación, la presentación de un campo temático que será objeto de consideración.

We thus have an inherent affinity between the way something is intended, the intentio, and the intentum, whereby intentum, the intended, is to be understood in the sense just developed, Not the perceived as an entity, but the entity in the how of its being-perceived, the intentum in the how of its being-intended. Only with the how of the being-intended belonging to every intentio as such does the basic constitution of intentionality come into view at all, even though only provisionally.

Intentio in phenomenology is also understood as the act of presuming (Vermeinen). There is a connection between presuming and presumed, or noesis and noema. Νοεîν means to perceive (vernehmen) or come to awareness, to apprehend simply, the perceiving itself and the perceived in the way it is perceived. I refer to these terms because they involve not only a terminology but also a particular interpretation of directing-itself-toward. Every directing-itself-toward (fear, hope, love) has the feature of directing-itself-toward which Husserl calls noesis. Inasmuch as νοεîν is taken from the sphere of theoretical knowing, any exposition of the practical sphere here is drawn from the theoretical. For our purposes this terminology is not dangerous, since we are using it to make it clear that intentionality is fully determined only when it is seen as this belonging together of intentio and intentum. By way of summary let us therefore say: just as intentionality is not a subsequent coordination of at first unintentional lived experiences and objects but is rather a structure, so inherent in the basic constitution of the structure in each of its manifestations must always be found its own intentional toward-which, the intentum. This provisional exposition of the basic constitution of intentionality as a reciprocal belonging-together of intentio and intentum is not the Last word, but only an initial indication and exhibition of a thematic field for consideration.

Wir Haben so eine eigentümliche Zugehörigkeit zwischen der Weise des Intendiertseins, der Intentio, und dem Intentum, Wobei Intentum, das Intendierte, zu Verstehen ist in dem herausgestellten Sinne, Nicht das Wahrgenommene als Seiendes, sondern das Seiende im Wie seines Wahrgenommenseins, das Intentum im Wie seines Intendiertseins. Erst mit dem zu jeder Intentio als solcher gehörigen Wie des Intendiertseins ist überhaupt, obzwar nur vorläufig, die Grundverfassung der Intentionalität in den Blick gekommen.

Intentio wird in der Phänomenologie auch als Vermeinen gefaßt. Ein Zusammenhang besteht zwischen Vermeinung (61) und Vermeinten oder Noesis und Noema. Νοεῖν heißt – Vernehmen, schlicht erfassen, das Vernehmen Selbst und das Vernommene in der Weise seines Vemommenseins. Ich weise auf diese Termini hin, weil darin nicht nur eine Terminologie, sondern auch schon eine bestimmte Interpretation des Sich-richtens-auf enthalten ist. Jedes Sich-richten-auf, Furcht, Hoffnung, Liebe hat den Charakter des Sich-richtens-auf, den Husserl als Noesis bezeichnet. Sofern νοεῖν aus der Sphäre des theoretischen Erkennens genommen wird, ergibt sich Hier eine Deutung der praktischen Sphäre aus der theoretischen. Für unsere Zwedke ist diese Terminologie ungefährlich, dafür nämlich, um sich klarzumachen, daß Intentionalität erst voll bestimmt ist, wenn sie als diese Zugehörigkeit von Intentio und Intentum gesehen wird. Zusammenfassend ist daher zu sagen: Sowenig Intentionalität eine nachträgliche Zuordnung von Zunächst unintentionalen Erlebnissen und Objekten, vielmehr eine Struktur ist, so notwendig gehört zur Grundverfassung der Struktur jeweils ihr eigenes intentionales Worauf, das Intentum. Diese vorläufige Herausstellung der Grundverfassung der Intentioncdität ah gegenseitige Zugehörigkeit von Intentio und Intentum, ist nicht das letzte Wort, sondern lediglich erste Anzeige und Aufweisung eines thematischen Feldes für Betrachtungen.
