Aristóteles não diz aqui nada mais exato sobre ο νοῦς (pensamento). Ainda experimentaremos algumas coisas sobre ο νοῦς (pensamento). Considerado como um todo, há poucas coisas legadas de Aristóteles sobre ο νοῦς (pensamento); ele é o fenômeno que lhe apresentou o maior número de dificuldades. Aristóteles talvez só tenha clarificado esse fenômeno até o ponto que era possível no interior da interpretação grega de ser. Uma interpretação prévia já se encontra dada na Ética a Nicômaco VI, 6. Aqui, Aristóteles lembra-nos do fato de que a ἐπιστήμη (ciência)  –  exatamente como a φρόνησις (circunvisão) e como a σοφία (sabedoria)  –  é μετὰ λόγου (por meio da linguagem -1140b33). Nós veremos que ο ἀληθεύειν (desvelamento) do νοῦς (pensamento) é de fato ἄνευ λόγου (sem linguagem), na medida em que se compreende ο λόγος (discurso) como κατάφασις (afirmação) e ἀπόφασις (negação). Ο νοῦς (pensamento) como ο νοῦς (pensamento) puro, se quisermos concebê-lo como μετὰ λόγου (acontecendo por meio do discurso), possui um λόγος (discurso) totalmente peculiar, que não é nenhuma κατάφασις (afirmação) e nenhuma ἀπόφασις (negação). Dando uma indicação prévia, é preciso dizer que ο νοῦς (pensamento) como tal não é nenhuma possibilidade do ser do homem. Na medida, porém, em que o ser-aí humano é caracterizado por um “visar” e por um apreender, ο νοῦς (pensamento) é de qualquer modo encontrável no ser-aí humano. Esse νοῦς (pensamento) é denominado por Aristóteles ο καλούμενος της ψυχής νοῦς (aquilo na alma que é denominado pensamento) (De anima III, 4; 429a22ss.); o assim chamado νοῦς (pensamento) deve significar: ο νοῦς (pensamento) impróprio. Esse νοῦς (pensamento) na alma humana não é um νοεῖν, um ver puro e simples, mas um διανοεῖν (um pensar discursivo), porque a alma humana é determinada pelo λόγος (discurso). Com base no λόγος (discurso), na interpelação discursiva de algo como algo, o νοεῖν (pensar) se transforma em διανοεῖν (em pensar discursivo). [GA19MAC:63-64]

Aristotle does Not say anything more precise about νοῦς here. What can we learn about it? On the whole, Aristotle has transmitted to us very little about νοῦς; it is the phenomenon which causes him the most difficulty. Perhaps Aristotle did elucidate it as far as Was possible within the Greek interpretation of Being. We find a preliminary interpretation already in Nicomachean Ethics VI, 6. Here Aristotle reminds us that ἐπιστήμη  –  just like φρόνησις and σοφία  –  is μετὰ λόγου (1140b33). We will see that the ἀληθεύειν of νοῦς is in fact ἄνευ λόγου, insofar as λόγος is understood as κατάφασις and ἀπόφασις. Νοῦς as pure νοῦς possesses, if it is to be conceived μετὰ λόγου, an altogether peculiar λόγος which is neither κατάφασις nor ἀπόφασις. In anticipation, it must be said that νοῦς as such is not a possibility of the Being of Man. Yet insofar as intending and perceiving are characteristic of human Dasein, νοῦς can still be found in man. Aristotle calls this νοῦς: ὁ καλούμενος τῆς ψυχής νοῦς (De anima III, 4; 429a22ss.), the “so-called” νοῦς, which means a nongenuine νοῦς. This νοῦς in the human soul is not a νοεῖν, a straightforward seeing, but a διανοεῖν, because the human soul is determined by λόγος. On the basis of λόγος, the assertion of something as something, νοεῖν becomes διανοεῖν. Other than νοῦς, there is no mode of ἀληθεύειν which in the proper sense is an ἀληθεύειν of the ἀρχαί.
