===== GA19:15-17 – O SIGNIFICADO DA PALAVRA aletheia =====

Os gregos têm uma expressão característica para a [[termos:v:verdade:start|verdade]] : ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento). Ο α é um a-privativo. Eles possuem, portanto, uma expressão negativa para uma coisa que compreendemos positivamente. “Verdade” tem para os gregos o mesmo significado negativo que, em alemão, por exemplo, “Unvollkommenheit” (imperfeição). Essa expressão não é pura e simplesmente negativa, mas negativa de uma maneira específica. Aquilo que exprimimos como imperfeito não possui, em geral, nada em comum com a perfeição, mas se orienta precisamente por ela: em relação à perfeição, ele não é como deveria ser. Essa negação é uma negação totalmente peculiar. Ela se acha com frequência velada nas palavras e significados, por exemplo, na palavra “cego”, que também é uma expressão negativa. Ser cego significa não poder ver; e só pode ser cego aquele que pode ver. Silenciar só pode aquele que pode falar. Imperfeito, portanto, é aquilo que possui uma determinada orientação ontológica pela perfeição. “Imperfeito” significa: aquilo de que ele é enunciado não possui a perfeição que ele poderia, que ele deveria ter, a perfeição que se desejaria que ele tivesse. Com relação à perfeição, falta-lhe algo, esse algo lhe foi tomado, roubado  –  privare, tal como o a-privativo o diz. Nos gregos, a verdade, para nós o positivo, é expressa negativamente como ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento), enquanto a falsidade, para nós o negativo, é expressa positivamente como ψευδός (falso), ἀλήθεια significa: não estar mais velado, estar descoberto. Essa expressão privativa indica que os gregos tinham uma compreensão de que o não encobrimento do mundo precisa ser primeiro conquistado, que ele é algo que não se acha de início e na maioria das vezes disponível. O mundo está de início fechado, ainda que não completamente; inicialmente, o conhecimento descerrador ainda não avançou em geral de maneira penetrante; o mundo só se acha descerrado na esfera mais próxima do mundo circundante na medida em que os carecimentos naturais o exigem. E precisamente aquilo que talvez estivesse originariamente descerrado na consciência natural em certos limites é na maioria das vezes novamente encoberto e dissimulado por meio da fala. Opiniões solidificam-se em conceitos e proposições, e esses conceitos e proposições são passados adiante, de tal modo que aquilo que tinha sido descerrado originariamente é uma vez mais velado. Assim, o ser-aí cotidiano se movimenta em um duplo encobrimento: de início, no mero desconhecimento, e, em seguida, porém, em um encobrimento muito mais perigoso, na medida em que o descoberto é transformado em não verdade por meio do falatório. No que se refere a esse duplo encobrimento, uma filosofia se vê colocada diante da tarefa de se arremeter algum dia pela primeira vez positivamente em direção às coisas mesmas, e, por outro lado, a assumir ao mesmo [[termos:t:tempo:start|tempo]] a luta contra o falatório. As duas tendências são os impulsos iniciais propriamente ditos do trabalho intelectual de Sócrates, Platão e [[termos:a:aristoteles-2:start|Aristóteles]]. Sua luta contra a retórica e a sofistica é a prova disso. A transparência da filosofia grega não é conquistada, portanto, na assim chamada serenidade do ser-aí grego, como se essa transparência tivesse sido dada aos gregos durante o sono. A consideração mais detida de seu trabalho mostra precisamente que empenho foi necessário para que eles atravessassem o caminho até o próprio ser e, ao mesmo tempo, passando pelo falatório. Isso significa, contudo, que não temos o direito de esperar receber as coisas de mão beijada, sobretudo porque estamos sobrecarregados com uma [[termos:t:tradicao:start|tradição]] rica e complexa.

O desvelamento é uma determinação do ente, na medida em que ele vem ao encontro. A ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento) não pertence ao ser no sentido de que ele não poderia ser sem o desvelamento. Pois a natureza acha-se presente à vista, mesmo antes de ser descoberta. A ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento) é um caráter ontológico peculiar do ente, na medida em que o ente se encontra em uma relação com uma [[termos:v:visao:start|visão]] intencional do ente, com um descerrar que se movimenta circunvisivamente no ente, com um conhecer. Por outro lado, contudo, ο ἀληθές (verdadeiro  –  desvelado) também está no ὂν (no ente) e é um caráter do próprio ser; e, em verdade, na medida em que ser = presença e em que essa presença é apropriada no λόγος (discurso), na medida em que ela “é” nele. O descerrar, porém, em relação ao qual a ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento) “é”, é ele mesmo um ser; e isso não, em verdade, um ser do ente que é inicialmente descerra-do, do mundo, mas um modo de ser do ente que nós designamos como ser-aí humano. Na medida em que o descerrar e o conhecer têm por meta para os gregos a ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento), ele significa para eles, de acordo com aquilo que ele realiza, ou seja, de acordo com a ἀλήθεια (verdade  –  desvelamento): ἀληθεύειν (desvelar). Não queremos traduzir aqui essa palavra, ἀληθεύειν significa: ser desencobridor, arrancar o mundo ao fechamento e ao encobrimento. E esse é um modo de ser do ser-aí humano.

The Greeks have a characteristic expression for [[termos:t:truth-js:start|truth]]: ἀλήθεια. The α is an α-privative. Thus they have a negative expression for something we understand positively. "Truth" has for the Greeks the same negative sense as has, e.g., our "imperfection." This expression is [[termos:n:not:start|Not]] purely and simply negative but is negative in a particular way. That which we designate as imperfect does not have nothing at all to do with perfection; on the contrary, it is precisely oriented toward it in relation to perfection it is not all that it could be. This type of negation is a quite peculiar one. It is often hidden in words and meanings: an example is the word "blind," which is also a negative expression. Blind means not to be able to see; but only that which can see can be blind. Only what can speak can be silent. Hence the imperfect is that which has in its Being a definite orientation toward perfection. "Imperfect" means that that of which it is predicated does not have the perfection it could have, should have, and is desired to have. With regard to perfection something is lacking, something has been taken away, stolen from it — privare, as the α-"privative" says. Truth, which for us is something positive, is for the Greeks negative as ἀλήθεια; and falsehood, which for us is something negative, is positively expressed by them as ψεύδος. ἀλήθεια means: to be hidden no longer, to be uncovered. This privative expression indicates that the Greeks had some understanding of the fact that the uncoveredness of the world must be wrested, that it is initially and for the most part not available. The world is primarily, if not completely, concealed; disclosive knowledge does not at first thrust itself forward; the world is disclosed only in the immediate circle of the surrounding world, insofar as natural needs require. And precisely that which in natural consciousness [[termos:w:was:start|Was]], within certain limits, perhaps originally disclosed becomes largely covered up again and distorted by speech. Opinions rigidify themselves in concepts and propositions; they become truisms which are repeated over and over, with the consequence that what was originally disclosed comes to be covered up again. Thus everyday [[termos:d:dasein-hlex:start|Dasein]] moves in a double coveredness: initially in mere ignorance and then in a much more dangerous coveredness, insofar as idle talk turns what has been uncovered into untruth. With regard to this double coveredness, a philosophy faces the tasks, on the one [[termos:h:hand:start|Hand]], of breaking through for the first time to the matters themselves (the positive task) and, on the other hand, of taking up at the same time the battle against idle talk. Both of these intentions are the genuine impulses of the spiritual work of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Their struggle against rhetoric and sophistry' bears witness to it. The transparency of Greek philosophy was hence not acquired in the so-called serenity of Greek Dasein, as if it was bestowed on the Greeks in their sleep. A closer consideration of their work shows precisely what exertion was required to cut through idle talk and penetrate to Being itself. And that means that we must not expect to get hold of the matters themselves with less effort, especially since we are burdened by a rich and intricate tradition.

Unconcealedness is a determination of beings — insofar as they are encountered. ἀλήθεια does not belong to Being in the sense that Being could not be without unconcealedness. For nature is there at hand even before it is disclosed. ἀλήθεια is a peculiar character of the Being of beings insofar as beings [[termos:s:stand:start|Stand]] in relation to a regard aimed at them, to a disclosure cirtumspecting them, to a knowing. On the other hand, the αληθές is certainly both in όν and is a character of Being itself, and specifically insofar as Being = presence and the latter is appropriated in λόγος and “is" in it. Disclosure, however, in relation to which there is ἀλήθεια, is itself a mode of Being, and indeed not of the beings which are first disclosed — those of the world — but, instead, of the beings wre call human Dasein. Insofar as disclosure and knowledge have for the Greeks the goal of ἀλήθεια, the Greeks designate them as άληθεύειν, i.e., designate them in terms of what is achieved in them, ἀλήθεια. We do not intend to translate this word, άληθεύειν. It means to be disclosing, to remove the world from concealedness and coveredness. And that is a mode of Being of human Dasein.

[[termos:b:bei:start|bei]] »blind«, das auch ein negativer Ausdruck ist. Blind ist nicht [[termos:s:sehen:start|sehen]] [[termos:k:konnen:start|können]]; und blind sein kann nur, was sehen kann. [[termos:s:schweigen:start|Schweigen]] kann nur, was [[termos:s:sprechen:start|Sprechen]] kann. Unvollkommen ist also das, was eine bestimmte seinsmäßige [[termos:o:orientierung:start|Orientierung]] auf Vollkommenheit hat. »Unvollkommen« meint: das, wovon es ausgesagt ist, hat nicht die Vollkommenheit, die es haben könnte, sollte, die [[termos:m:man-hlex:start|Man]] wünschte. Mit Bezug auf Vollkommenheit fehlt ihm etwas, es ist ihm genommen, geraubt - privare, wie dies das α-privativum sagt. Bei den Griechen ist die Wahrheit, für uns das Positive, negativ als ἀλήθεια und die Falschheit, das für uns Negative, positiv als ψεύδος ausgedrückt, ἀλήθεια heißt: [[termos:n:nicht-mehr:start|nicht mehr]] [[termos:v:verborgen:start|verborgen]] sein, aufgedeckt sein. Dieser privative Ausdruck deutet an, daß die Griechen ein [[termos:v:verstandnis:start|Verständnis]] davon hatten, daß das Unverdecktsein der [[termos:w:welt:start|Welt]] erst errungen [[termos:w:werden:start|Werden]] muß, daß es etwas ist, was [[termos:z:zunachst-und-zumeist:start|zunächst und zumeist]] nicht [[termos:v:verfugbar:start|verfügbar]] ist. Die Welt ist [[termos:z:zunachst:start|Zunächst]], wenn auch nicht völlig, [[termos:v:verschlossen:start|verschlossen]]; das erschließende [[termos:e:erkennen:start|Erkennen]] ist zunächst überhaupt noch nicht vorgedrungen; erschlossen ist die Welt nur im nächsten [[termos:u:umkreis:start|Umkreis]] der [[termos:u:umwelt-hlex:start|Umwelt]], insoweit es die natürlichen Bedürfnisse [[termos:v:verlangen:start|verlangen]]. Und gerade das, was im natürlichen Bewußtsein in [[termos:g:gewissen-hlex:start|Gewissen]] Grenzen vielleicht [[termos:u:ursprunglich:start|ursprünglich]] erschlossen war, wird zumeist wieder verdeckt und verstellt durch das Sprechen. Meinungen verfestigen sich in Begriffen und Sätzen, und diese werden nachgesprochen, so daß das, was ursprünglich erschlossen war, wieder verborgen wird. So bewegt sich das alltägliche Dasein in einer doppelten [[termos:v:verdecktheit:start|Verdecktheit]]: zunächst in der bloßen [[termos:u:unkenntnis:start|Unkenntnis]], sodann aber in einer viel gefährlicheren Verdecktheit, insofern das Entdeckte durch das [[termos:g:gerede:start|Gerede]] zur [[termos:u:unwahrheit:start|Unwahrheit]] wird. Mit Bezug auf diese doppelte Verdecktheit ist eine Philosophie [[termos:v:vor:start|vor]] die Aufgabe gestellt, einmal positiv erstmalig zu den Sachen vorzubrechen, zum [[termos:a:anderen:start|Anderen]] gleichzeitig den [[termos:k:kampf:start|Kampf]] gegen das Gerede aufzunehmen. Beide Tendenzen sind die eigentlichen Antriebe der geistigen [[termos:a:arbeit:start|Arbeit]] des Sokrates, Platos und Aristoteles’. Ihr Kampf gegen [[termos:r:rhetorik:start|Rhetorik]] und Sophistik ist das Zeugnis dafür. Die [[termos:d:durchsichtigkeit:start|Durchsichtigkeit]] der griechischen Philosophie ist also nicht in der sogenannten Heiterkeit griechischen Daseins gewonnen, als sei es den Griechen im Schlafe [[termos:g:gegeben:start|gegeben]] worden. Die nähere [[termos:b:betrachtung:start|Betrachtung]] ihrer Arbeit zeigt gerade, welcher Anstrengung es bedurfte, um zum Sein [[termos:s:selbst:start|Selbst]] und zugleich durch das Gerede hindurchzudringen. Das heißt aber, daß wir nicht [[termos:e:erwarten:start|Erwarten]] dürfen, die Sachen billiger zu bekommen, zumal wir durch eine reiche und verwickelte Tradition belastet sind.

Die [[termos:u:unverborgenheit:start|Unverborgenheit]] ist eine [[termos:b:bestimmung:start|Bestimmung]] des Seienden, sofern es begegnet. Die ἀλήθεια gehört nicht in dem Sinne zum Sein, als könnte es nicht sein ohne die Unverborgenheit. Denn die [[termos:n:natur:start|Natur]] ist [[termos:v:vorhanden:start|Vorhanden]], auch bevor sie entdeckt wird. Die ἀλήθεια ist ein eigentümlicher [[termos:s:seinscharakter:start|Seinscharakter]] des Seienden, sofern das [[termos:s:seiende:start|Seiende]] in einem Verhältnis steht zu einem [[termos:h:hinsehen:start|Hinsehen]] darauf zu einem sich im Seienden umsehenden [[termos:e:erschliessen:start|Erschließen]], zu einem Erkennen. Andererseits ist das ἀληθές doch auch im öv und ein Charakter des Seins selbst, und zwar insofern, als Sein = [[termos:a:anwesenheit:start|Anwesenheit]] und diese im λόγος angeeignet, in ihm »ist«. Das Erschließen aber, im Verhältnis [[termos:w:wozu:start|Wozu]] die ἀλήθεια ist, ist selbst ein Sein, nicht zwar des Seienden, das zunächst erschlossen wird, der Welt, sondern eine [[termos:s:seinsweise:start|Seinsweise]] des Seienden, das wir als menschliches Dasein bezeichnen. Sofern das Erschließen und Erkennen für die Griechen die ἀλήθεια zum Ziel hat, besagt es für sie gemäß dem, was es leistet, der ἀλή-θεια: ἀληθεύειν. Wir [[termos:w:wollen:start|Wollen]] dies nicht [[termos:u:ubersetzen:start|übersetzen]], ἀληθεύειν meint: aufdeckendsein, die Welt aus der Verschlossenheit und Verdecktheit herausnehmen. Und das ist eine Seinsweise des menschlichen Daseins.

Diese zeigt sich zunächst im Sprechen, im Miteinanderreden, im λέγειν. [GA19:15-17]
