Nem os deuses criam o homem, nem o homem inventa os deuses. A verdade do seer decide “sobre” os dois, na medida em que vigora acima deles, mas acontece apropriativamente entre eles e, com isto, pela primeira vez ela mesma para o vir-ao-encontro.

Sempre de acordo com o modo no qual o seer encontra a verdade; sempre de acordo com a maneira como essa verdade é fundada como clareira para o acontecimento da apropriação daquele vir-ao-encontro, clareira essa que se subtrai; sempre de acordo com a configuração do homem que exige essa fundação; sempre de acordo com o pertencimento do homem ao seer e, com isto, também sempre de acordo com o perder-se re-presentativo e calculador em meio ao ente e à interpretação de sua entidade, realiza-se o conhecimento e a denominação dos deuses.

(196) O deus nunca é um ente do qual o homem, ora de um modo, ora de outro, sabe algo, um ente do qual ele se aproxima em distâncias diversas. Ao contrário, os deuses e a sua divindade emergem da verdade do seer; isto é, aquela representação coisal do deus e o cálculo explicativo dele, por exemplo, como o criador têm o seu fundamento na interpretação da entidade como pre-sentidade produzida e produtível.

Neither do gods create man nor does man invent gods. The truth of be-ing decides “on” both but not by prevailing over them but by enowning itself between them and thus by first enowning them themselves unto the countering.

Knowing and naming gods get enacted depending on the manner in which be-ing finds truth, depending on the manner in which this truth is grounded as clearing for the withdrawing enownment of that countering, depending on man’s gestalt which fosters such a grounding, depending on man’s belongingness to be-ing, and thus depending also on man’s representing and calculating lostness among beings and on the interpretation of their beingness.

God is never a being about which man knows something at times this way and at times another way; god is never a being whom man gets closer to in varying distances. Rather, gods and their godhood arise (G236) from out of the truth of be-ing, which is to say that, for instance, the thingly representation of god and the explanatory reckoning with god as the creator are grounded in the interpretation of beingness as produced and producible presence.

Weder erschaffen die Götter den Menschen noch erfindet der Mensch die Götter. Die Wahrheit des Seyns entscheidet »über« beide, indem es nicht über ihnen waltet, sondern zwischen ihnen sich und damit erst sie selbst zur Ent-gegnung ereignet.

Je nach der Art, in der das Seyn die Wahrheit findet, je nach der Weise, wie diese Wahrheit als Lichtung für die sich entziehende Ereignung jener Entgegnung gegründet wird, je nach der Gestalt des Menschen, die jene Gründung fordert, je nach der Zugehörigkeit des Menschen zum Seyn und damit auch je nach der vor-stellenden und berechnenden Verlorenheit in das Seiende und die Auslegung seiner Seiendheit, vollzieht sich das Kennen und Nennen der Götter.

Der Gott ist niemals ein Seiendes, davon der Mensch bald so, bald anders Einiges weiß, dem er sich in verschiedenen Entfernungen nähert, sondern die Götter und ihre Gottschaft entspringen (236) aus der Wahrheit des Seyns; d. h. jene dinghafte Vorstellung des Gottes und das erklärende Rechnen mit ihm, z. B. als dem Schöpfer, hat ihren Grund in der Auslegung der Seiendheit als hergestellter und herstellbarer Anwesenheit.
