Como não é próprio ao antropomorfismo uma “sistemática” passível de ser desdobrada, na medida em que ele nunca se mostra senão como uma retirada em direção a uma tese, a meditação precisa buscar sempre, por meio de suas questões e segundo diversos “ângulos”, encontrar tão somente a mesma posição fundamental, isto é, tornar essa posição em todos os aspectos dignos de questão.

1) Será que o comportamento humano em geral e o “pensamento” humano em particular podem ser algum dia aquilo que eles são de um modo diverso do constante enraizamento no “homem”?

2) Com o fato de dessa maneira o homem continuar sendo estabelecido como solo de realização de seus comportamentos (144) também se acha ao mesmo tempo decidida a antropomorfização de tudo aquilo ao que o comportamento e o pensamento a cada vez se referem – o ente? A aparência do contrário é apenas uma mera aparência no interior deste estado irremovível?

3) E o que é considerado aqui como propriamente irremovível? Não se trata da obviedade há muito poderosa que vem se tornando cada vez mais vazia do estabelecimento do homem como animal racional? A antropomorfização do ente na totalidade já não é, então, a consequência da humanização precedente irreconhecível do homem? Com essa humanização, estar-se-ia designando inicialmente a reconstrução daquilo que distingue o homem como homem (no sentido de uma distinção no interior do âmbito do ser vivo) em meio à animalidade. Essa animalidade, porém, circunscreve ao mesmo tempo os seres-vivos e, com isto, o homem como um ente que pode ser previamente encontrado, que é a cada vez dotado com capacidades inferiores e “superiores” (“órgãos”). Portanto, a humanização significa: o homem é reprimido e transformado em um ser animal presente à vista, que também se mostra entre outros seres animais; a avaliação diversa das capacidades e desempenhos humanos não altera nada em relação a esta fixação metafísica da essência humana.

4) Ora, mas se o antropomorfismo consiste em uma tal humanização e não primeiramente e apenas na antropomorfização de todo ente, então a meditação sobre o antropomorfismo não precisa levantar primordialmente a questão acerca da essência do homem? A exigência soa óbvia. E, contudo, ela oculta em si as decisões mais questionáveis, porque não está decidido como, afinal, a partir de que propósitos e segundo que aspectos se precisaria perguntar pelo homem e de que maneira uma decisão poderia ser tomada aqui.

5) A pergunta acerca da essência do homem precisa ser certamente estabelecida de tal modo segundo a sua direção e alcance, que ela permaneça competente antecipadamente para tudo aquilo de questionável que uma meditação sobre o antropomorfismo possa tornar visível.

(145) 6) No antropomorfismo, afirma-se a antropomorfização do ente na totalidade, ou seja, do ente enquanto tal. Como o que é representado graças ao representar, o ser é um produto do animal racional. No antropomorfismo reside uma decisão prévia quanto ao ser como um produto do homem humanizado. Como, onde e quando essa decisão é a cada vez tomada enquanto tal – como uma decisão sobre o ser? Mas se ela nunca foi tomada em parte alguma, então uma tal decisão sobre a essência do ser mesmo não precisa ser anteriormente colocada em decisão? A pergunta acerca do homem não tem de levantar a pergunta diante de si: como é, afinal, que o homem pode ser efetivamente assinalado à verdade sobre o ser, para que tais decisões possam se tomar para ele um dia uma indigência, e as questões neste âmbito de decisão possam se tornar para ele uma necessidade? Como, se esse assinalamento questionável do homem à verdade do ser já anunciou antes de tudo a sua essência? Por que é, contudo, que precisamente este aceno permaneceu até aqui sempre sem ser apreendido?

7) O que é esse assinalamento do homem à verdade (clareira) do seer? De onde ele emerge? Ele é uma invenção e um arbítrio do “homem” e o que ainda significa, então, “o homem”? Ou será que o homem só é apropriado em meio ao acontecimento para a sua essência por meio do seer? E o seer se essencia como esse acontecimento apropriativo e somente como ele?

8) Para salvar sua essência, isto é, para se configurar de um modo que faça jus à sua essência, o homem não precisa se tornar, então, o fundador da verdade do seer? A salvação da essência do homem é, então, uma transformação naquela atividade fundacional, cuja essenciação nós denominamos o ser-aí. A humanização do homem desmorona em si mesma. A antropomorfização do ente é sem fundamento.

9) O saber “sobre” o ser-aí, o que significa aqui o próprio ser-aí, é em si necessariamente o saber sobre as múltiplas condições em termos da história do seer capazes de assegurar ao antropomorfismo a sua aparente “naturalidade”, in-destrutibilidade e facilidade; essas condições são:

(146) a) o primado integral do ente em relação ao ser na metafísica e, em verdade, precisamente com base no questionamento metafísico acerca do ser (como a entidade);

b) a experiência, assentada no campo de visão desse primado, do homem como animal racional;

c) a consolidação da “essência” presente à vista do homem no modo cristão de pensar (o ens creatum – homo – como “peregrino da terra”);

d) o aguçamento da presença à vista do homem por meio da interpretação como “sujeito”;

e) o atrelamento final do homem à maquinação desatada do ente (técnica – historiologia).

10) Mas se a essência do seer se funda no acontecimento apropriativo, no acontecimento da apropriação do homem para o ser-aí, o seer – e não mais apenas o ente – não é determinado agora com maior razão com vistas ao homem, isto é, a partir dele? Não! – Pois o acontecimento da apropriação para o ser-aí já é em si a superapropriação em meio ao acontecimento para o seer como aquele entre ab-issal, em cujo espaço-de-jogo-temporal o vir-ao-encontro do deus e do homem se cruza com a contenda de terra e mundo.

Since a “systematically” unfoldable account cannot fit anthropomorphism insofar as anthropomorphism is nothing but a retreat into the one guiding proposition, mindfulness must make sure that, from different “sides”, its questioning (G161) always comes upon the same grounding position and renders it question-worthy in all respects:

1.Can human comportment in general and human “thinking” in particular ever be other than what they are, namely constantly rooted in “man”?

2.Is with the assumption that, in this way, man is the enactment-ground of his comportments, also a decision made on the ‘dis-humanization’ of everything to which his comportment and thinking always relate, namely beings? Are ‘beings in the whole’ in advance and irredeemably subjected to the encroachment of ‘dis-humanization’? Is the semblance of the opposite merely a plain illusion within this dislodgable state?

3.And what counts here for actually dislodgable? Is it not since long ago the ever-powerful and increasingly emptier self-evidence of positing man as the thinking animal? Is not then the ‘dis-humanization’ of ‘beings in the whole’ already the consequence of a preceding and unrecognized ‘dis-humanizing’ of man? ‘Dis-humanization’ of man means above all the erecting of that which distinguishes man as man by basing it upon animality (that is, by taking what distinguishes man as a differentiation within the sphere of the living beings). But this animality simultaneously redefines the living beings and thus man as a being that one comes upon, and that is equipped, ever differently, with lower and “higher” faculties (“organs”). ‘Dis-humanization’, therefore, means man being pressed into an extant animal-being that also occurs among other living beings. The variety of assessment of human faculties and achievements does not change anything concerning this metaphysical consolidation of human being.

4.However, if anthropomorphism consists in such ‘dis-humanizing’, and not primarily and solely in the ‘dis-humanization’ of all beings, then should not mindfulness of anthropomorphism first of all raise the question concerning (G162) what is ownmost to man? This demand seems to be self-evident and yet it conceals within itself the most question-worthy decisions, because it is not decided how in general, and with what intentions and in which respects, we are to inquire into man and in what way here a decision is enactable.

5.In terms of direction and scope the question concerning man’s ownmost must indeed be so laid out that this question in advance measures up to everything that mindfulness on anthropomorphism can bring to light as question-worthy.

6.Anthropomorphism asserts the ‘dis-humanization’ of ‘beings in the whole’, and that means ‘dis-humanization’ of beings as such. By the grace of representing, being as representedness is a contrivance of the rational animal. There lies in anthropomorphism a prior decision on being as a contrivance of the ‘dis-humanized’ man. How, where and when is this decision as such ever enacted as a decision on being? But if up to now this decision is nowhere and never enacted, must not then, above all, such a decision concerning the sway of being itself be decided upon beforehand? Must not then the question concerning man also take up the question as to how man can be allotted to the truth of being at all so that such decisions can for once become a distress for him and in this sphere of decision questions can become a necessity? What if this question-worthy allotment of man unto the truth of being were to announce man’s ownmost before everything else? But why has this hint so far simply remained unperceived?

7.What is this allotment of man unto the truth (clearing) of be-ing? Where does this allotment come from? Is it an invention and willfulness of “man” and in that case what does “man” still mean? Or is man en-owned unto (G163) his ownmost above all and solely by be-ing? And does be-ing hold sway as this en-owning itself and only as this?

8.In order to rescue his ownmost, that is, to shape this ownmost as it behoves vis-à-vis be-ing, must he then not become the grounder of the truth of be-ing? The rescuing of man’s own-most is then a transformation into that groundership whose swaying we call Da-sein. The ‘dis-humanizing’ of man collapses in itself and the ‘dis-humanization’ of beings proves to be without ground.

9.The knowing-awareness “of” Da-sein as Da-sein itself is, by itself, necessarily the knowing-awareness of the manifold being-historical conditions that secure anthropomorphism its apparent “naturalness”, “indestructibility” and “popularity”. These conditions are:

a)the undiminished preeminence of beings vis-à-vis being in metaphysics; indeed simply the undiminished preeminence of beings on the basis of the metaphysical inquiry into being (as beingness);

b)in the horizon of this preeminence, and at home therein, the experience of man as animal rationale;

c)the consolidation of the extant “essence” of man in the Christian way of thinking (the ens creatum – homo – as the “pilgrim on earth”;

d)the intensification of the extantness of man through the interpretation of man as “subject”;

e)the final harnessing of man into the unleashed machination of beings (technicity – ‘history’).

10.However, if the swaying of be-ing is grounded in en-owning – in the en-ownment of man unto Da-sein – is it not then be-ing more than ever, and no longer only beings, that is exclusively and properly determined in the direction of man, and that means, from out of him? Not at all, since the en-ownment unto Da-sein is in itself already an ‘owning-over-to’ be-ing as that ‘in-between’ that holds on to the ab-ground, and in whose ‘free-play of time-space’ the countering of god and man crosses itself with the strife between the earth and the world.

immer nur von verschiedenen »Seiten« aus dieselbe Grundstellung zu treffen, d. h. fragwürdig in jeder Hinsicht zu machen.

1. Kann menschliches Verhalten überhaupt und menschliches »Denken« im besonderen je anders das sein, was es ist, als in der ständigen Verwurzelung im »Menschen«?

2. Ist damit, daß in solcher Weise der Mensch als Vollzugsboden seiner Verhaltungen angesetzt bleibt, auch zugleich über die Vermenschlichung alles dessen entschieden, woraufje das Verhalten und Denken sich bezieht – des Seienden? Unterliegt im voraus das Seiende im Ganzen rettungslos dem Übergriff der Vermenschlichung? Ist der Anschein des Gegenteils eben nur ein bloßer Schein innerhalb dieses unverrückbaren Zustandes?

5. Und was gilt hier für das eigentlich Unverrückbare? Ist es nicht die seit langem mächtige und immer leerer werdende Selbstverständlichkeit der Ansetzung des Menschen als des denkenden Tieres? Ist dann die Vermenschlichung des Seienden im Ganzen nicht bereits die Folge der unerkannt voraufgegangenen Vermenschung des Menschen? Mit dieser sei zunächst benannt die Zurückbauung dessen, was den Menschen als Menschen auszeichnet (im Sinne einer Unterscheidung innerhalb des Bereiches der Lebewesen), in dieTierheit. Diese aber umschreibt zugleich die Lebewesen und somit den Menschen als ein vorfindbares Seiendes, das je verschieden mit niederen und »höheren« Vermögen (»Organen«) ausgestattet ist. Vermenschung will daher sagen: Der Mensch wird auf ein vorhandenes Tierwesen, das unter anderem auch vorkommt, zurückgedrückt; die verschiedenartige Bewertung menschlicher Vermögen und Leistungen ändert an dieser metaphysischen Festsetzung des Menschenwesens nichts.

4. Wenn der Anthropomorphismus jedoch in solcher Vermenschung besteht und nicht erst und allein in der Vermenschlichung alles Seienden, muß dann die Besinnung auf den Anthropomorphismus nicht zuerst die Frage nach dem We-

sen des Menschen fragen? Die Forderung klingt selbstverständlich, Und dennoch verbirgt sie in sich die fragwürdigsten Entscheidungen, weil nicht entschieden ist, wie denn überhaupt, aus welchen Absichten und in welchen Hinsichten nach dem Menschen zu fragen sei und auf welche Weise hier eine Entscheidung vollziehbar werde.

5. Die Frage nach dem Wesen des Menschen muß doch wohl so angelegt werden nach Richtung und Reichweite, daß sie im voraus allem gewachsen bleibt, was eine Besinnung auf den Anthropomorphismus an Fragwürdigem sichtbar machen kann.

6. Im Anthropomorphismus ist die Vermenschlichung des Seienden im Ganzen und d. h. des Seienden als eines solchen behauptet. Das Sein ist als Vorgestelltheit von Gnaden des Vorstellens, ein Gemächte des vernünftigen Tieres. Im Anthropomorphismus liegt die Vorentscheidung über das Sein als eines Erzeugnisses des vermenschten Menschen. Wie und wo und wann ist diese Entscheidung je als solche vollzogen – als eine Entscheidung über das Sein? Wenn sie aber bisher nirgends und niemals vollzogen wurde, muß dann nicht erst ein solches Entscheiden über das Wesen des Seins selbst zuvor zur Entscheidung gestellt werden? Muß dann die Frage nach dem Menschen nicht die Frage vor sich her fragen, wie denn überhaupt der Mensch der Wahrheit über das Sein zugewiesen sein könne, damit ihm solche Entscheidungen einstmals zu einer Not und die Fragen in diesem Entscheidungsbereich zu einer Notwendigkeit werden können? Wie, wenn diese fragwürdige Zugewiesenheit des Menschen in die Wahrheit des Seins allem vorauf sein Wesen verkündete? Warum ist aber gerade dieser Wink bisher immer unvernommen geblieben?

7. Was ist diese Zugewiesenheit des Menschen in die Wahrheit (Lichtung) des Seyns? Woher entspringt sie? Ist sie eine Erfindung und Willkür des »Menschen« und was heißt dann noch »der Mensch«? Oder ist der Mensch zu seinem

Wesen erst und nur durch das Seyn er-eignet? Und west das Seyn als dieses Er-eignis selbst und nur als dieses?

8. Muß dann nicht der Mensch, um sein Wesen zu retten, d. h. dem Seyn gegenüber wesensgerecht zu gestalten, zum Gründer der Wahrheit des Seyns werden? Die Wesensrettung des Menschen ist dann eine Verwandlung in jene Gründerschaft, deren Wesung wir das Da-sein nennen. Die Vermenschung des Menschen stürzt in sich zusammen. Die Vermenschlichung des Seienden ist ohne Grund.

9. Das Wissen »vom« Da-sein, d. h. hier das Oa-sein selbst, ist in sich notwendig das Wissen von den mehrfachen seyns-geschichtlichen Bedingungen, die dem Anthropomorphismus seine scheinbare »Natürlichkeit«, Unverwüstlichkeit und Gängigkeit sichern; diese Bedingungen sind:

a) der ungeschmälerte Vorrang des Seienden vor dem Sein in der Metaphysik und zwar gerade aufgrund des metaphysischen Fragens nach dem Sein (als der Seiendheit);

b) die im Gesichtskreis dieses Vorrangs beheimatete Erfahrung vom Menschen als animal rationale;

c) die Verfestigung des vorhandenen »Wesens« Mensch in der christlichen Denkweise (das ens creatum – homo – als »Erdenpilger«);

d) die Verschärfung der Vorhandenheit des Menschen durch die Auslegung als »Subjectum«;

e) die schließliche Einspannung des Menschen in die losgebundene Machenschaft des Seienden (Technik – Historie).

10. Wenn aber das Wesen des Seyns im Er eignis gründet, in der Er-eignung des Menschen in das Da-sein, wird dann nicht erst recht das Seyn – und nicht mehr nur das Seiende – auf den Menschen zu und d. h. von ihm her bestimmt? Nein! – denn die Er-eignung in das Da-sein ist in sich schon Über-eignung in das Seyn als jenes ab-gründige Inzwischen, in dessen Zeit-Spiel-Raum die Entgegnung des Gottes und des Menschen sich kreuzt mit dem Streit von Erde und Welt.
