C’est ici le lieu de donner à Umwelt sa traduction « conforme », à savoir : monde ambiant. Il faut bien voir cependant que cette « conformité » est loin d’être satisfaisante en français. En effet, comme le fait fort justement remarquer Marlène Zarader   (MZ1, page 119), « on ne peut malheureusement pas rendre en français le double sens du um allemand : um signifie « autour », mais aussi « pour » (pour un but ou un projet). Et il faut tenir ensemble les deux sens pour comprendre Umwelt. Le concept Umwelt est capital : il n’est absolument pas à comprendre en un sens spatial (bien qu’il puisse aussi avoir un sens spatial). L’Umwelt, c’est mon monde. Il n’est pas simplement constitué par les choses qui m’entourent géographiquement : il est constitué par ce qui m’est familier, par tout ce à quoi je me rapporte ou peux me rapporter, tout ce dont je me préoccupe. 1. ‘…die “eigene” und nächste (häusliche) Umwelt.’ The word ‘Umwelt’, which is customarily translated as ‘environment’, means literally the ‘world around’ or the ‘world about’. The prefix ‘um-’, however, not   only may mean ‘around’ or ‘about’, but, as we shall see, can also be used in an expression such as ‘um zu…’, which is most easily translated as ‘in order to’. Umwelt (die): «mundo circundante». Heidegger ya utiliza profusamente el término «vivencia del mundo circundante» (Umwelterlebnis  ) en el semestre de posguerra de 1919 para describir todas aquellas vivencias que, como la del conocido ejemplo de la cátedra, se dan en un contexto significativo. El ejemplo de la cátedra, a su vez, permite ilustrar magníficamente la transformación hermenéutica de la fenomenología al establecer el carácter primario de la comprensión y la significatividad del mundo frente a la tradicional primacía que la filosofía de la conciencia otorga a la percepción del mundo. En las lecciones del semestre de invierno de 1919-1920, se yuxtapone por primera vez el mundo circundante (Umwelt) al mundo compartido (Mitwelt) y al mundo propio (Selbstwelt  ). En la terminología de la analítica existenciaria que se empieza a fraguar en torno a 1923 en la forma de una hermenéutica de la vida fáctica, el mundo circundante indica el mundo más inmediato del Dasein   cotidiano. Umwelt (environment, surrounding world, world-around) — In 1915, the surrounding world was sensory and natural, as opposed to the suprasen-sory world which was medieval man’s first interest (GA1  :141, 155, 197, 206, 222): the worldly versus the spiritual rather than world as context of significance (GA63:96). KNS 1919 [GA56-57  ] provides the first description of the “environmental experience” of a chair in a meaningful context that “worlds.” WS 1919-20 [GA58] juxtaposes the around-world to the with-world and self-world. The rounds of prepositional reference of this world of concern are first woven in GA63 (cf. “Verweisungszusammenhang  ” below).
